Surgery Prep Area / Diagnostic Room (Ultrasound)
We use ultrasound as
a non-invasive technology to safely and rapidly
evaluate pets with suspected heart disease. This
(doppler) echocardiography utilizes sound waves
to safely image the heart, its valves, assess
blood flow, determine the cause of heart murmur
and assess the strength and health of the heart
muscle and its chambers. Abdominal ultrasound is
an imaging procedure to examine the internal
organs of the abdomen, including liver, spleen,
pancreas, kidneys, intestines etc.
This
room also serves to prepare the patient for the
surgical procedure. I understand the importance
of appropriate anesthesia and pain management.
We routinely place an intravenous catheter,
administer i.v. fluids, intra-operative
antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection and
analgesics for postoperative comfort. We provide
an appropriate gas anesthetic with complete
anesthesia monitoring capabilities.
This
quiet room with its four spacious kennels will
be also used for the patient`s postoperative
recovery. All cages contain an infrared lamp, a
heating pad and an i.v. infusion pump.
