Abdominal sonography
Ultrasonography is a diagnostic imaging method for examining organs and structures in the abdomen. Even smallest morphologic changes in organs, layers of organs, movements (e.g. small intestine) and abdominal vessels can be detected and interpreted.
Another reason for using ultrasound is the diagnosis or confirmation of pregnancy. In early stages of pregnancy gestation sacs can be detected by means of ultrasonography. Furthermore the activity of the heart and the development of the fetus can be examined.
The ultrasound waves are completely harmless, the examination is absolutely painless and can be carried out without sedation with dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and rats.
